For those of you that know me well, you know I'm no Martha Stewart in the kitchen. Meaning - I don't do all of the fancy "perfect" stuff, I'm a plain jane, K.I.S.S., type of cook. Every once in a while I get inspiration to try something new and "fancy". It just so happens the inspiration for the aboved pictured delicacy was birthed from the Cupcake Pop recipe on the Bakerella website.

Mine certainly are not perfection like hers. What I can say is that they are #1 - too time consuming to reach the end result and #2 - I am wearing cake, frosting, chocolate bark and red candy melts; my kitchen doesn't look much better. They taste good, but the texture put me off. I like my chocolate cake and frosting, just not mixed/mushed together like this. I'll stick with baking cupcakes and leave it at that.

I think yours look wonderful! I would have been happy to help you clean up the kitchen in exchange for a couple of those cupcake pops. ;)
I think the biggest problem I encountered is that it is the first muggy/hot weekend of the summer. The Cupcake Pops were too goey to hold together. Right after I got everything cleaned up we headed out to attend a graduation and when I returned, half of them had lost their "tops". I would use less icing to mix with the cake, and make the pieces smaller next time. It was a hit with everyone else and they kinda grew on me. This was just a test run to work out the "bugs" before I make them for a special occasion. My family never complains of being Quality Control Specialists. They take that job seriously!
they're so colorful - great idea for July 4th. And that's for the link - it was a fun you-tube video.
LOL...I think they came out great! I'm not much for being in the kitchen either...thank goodness my man likes to cook!
Though from time to time I like to bake (i have a horrible sweet tooth) & those look yummy & Fun to make!

Ah, well, you're a brave woman to bake in hot, muggy weather. As soon as we start getting that, I pretty much quit baking. I just get cranky if I get any warmer than the weather already makes me.
eat well - Funny the heat doesn't bother me in the summer. I live for summer heat. I am more inspired to bake in the summer than I am in the winter...strange!
sugarlovehoney - I am a cook, but just not into all the fancy fru fru stuff like Martha Stewart, although I do admire the woman tremendously.
storybeader - The You Tube was worth watching to hear Martha say the word "turd". ROFL
Despite the fact that you and your kitchen are wearing chocolate, frosting and sprinkles, I think they look DELICIOUS! I totally want to make these for our 4th of July festivities.
Awesome! I enjoy gourmet cooking, but not baking. I like to be best buds with those who do though...:~) Don't ya just love me!
Ok then, invite me up to feel the so called heat you are speaking of and while I am there I can tell you if these cupcake-pops taste as good as they look. Deal?
